Welcome to my new series “The Beauty & Style Files”!!! I created this out of what I like to call ‘beauty block’, when you either can’t think of new ideas to try or are stuck in a style rut. There are millions of things, people, environments, etc. to be inspired by so I thought I would create some inspiring files for us to look at. Each file will contain high end and drugstore beauty products as well as an outfit inspired by the file.

Marilyn Monroe is one of the most iconic women of all time and has been inspiring women to be strong and sexy for decades, so when I decided to create this series I knew I had to make her my first file! Whenever I want to look sexy Marilyn Monroe always pops into my head. What would Marilyn do?

From shimmering champagne eyes with classic winged liner to full lashes, to her signature red lip- Marilyn was is as glamorous as you can get. Her look is timeless and bound to be suitable for anything from running errands to a cocktail party

Known for her classic red lips, a trendy way to make this work for everyday life is to try a matte liquid lipstick instead of typical cream formulas. For the high end option I chose Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lips in Redrum $18 at jeffreestarcosmetics.com (photo courtesy of jeffreestarcosmetics.com) and for drugstore the Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick in Rebel Red $6.99 at target.com (photo courtesy of target.com)marilyn-lip-file

Marilyn always looked like a natural beauty so I knew that she would have been a huge fan of the Urban Decay Naked Palette $54 at Sephora.com (photo courtesy of Sephora.com) or this amazing dupe, the Hard Candy Top 10 Palette in Naturally Gorgeous $9.99 at Walmart (photo courtesy of hardcandy.com)marilyneyefile.jpg

Liner: A classic cat eye was the perfect compliment to her bold red lips. Ciate London Fierce Flicks Liner &20 via sephora.com (photo courtesy of sephora.com) and Loreal Paris Infallible Blackbuster Liner $6.99 via target.com (photo courtesy of target.com)marilynlinerfile.jpg

Highlight: Ms. Monroe glowed underneath the spotlight, so a great shimmering highlight is a must. Try the famed BeccaXJaclynHill Champagne Pop Highlight $38 via sephora.com or the dupe WetNWild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder in Precious Petals $3.99 via walamart.com (photo courtesy of wetnwildbeauty.com)marilynhighlightfile

Lashes: You KNOW Marilyn rocked dramatic, full lashes. Falsies must have been her best friend. For a luxurious lash look try the Huda Beauty Faux Mink Lashes #12 Farah $23 via sephora.com (photo courtesy of sephora.com) or this budget friendly version L.A. Colors Dramatilash in Fairy $0.98 via Walmart.com (photo courtesy of Walmart.com) marilynlashesfile

Blouse:I loved how sensual yet classy this blouse was. It oozed strong femininity. Maison Margiela Blouse $141 via lyst.com (photo courtesy of lyst.com) Pencil Skirt: I thought this was the perfect Marilyn way to add some sex appeal without being too revealing. Jane Norman PU Pencil Skirt 35 pounds via houseoffraser.com (photo courtesy of houseoffraser.com). Pumps: The platforms on these pumps modernize her vintage style. Jessica Simpson Waleo Leather Pumps $59.99 via dillards.com (photo courtesy of dillards.com) Barrette: For the final touch, incorporate some gold and pearls to glam it up. Cara Faux Pearl and Crystal Barrette $20 via Nordstrom.com (photo courtesy of Nordstrom.com)
